10 Mistakes That Start-Up Entrepreneurs Make

A friend just sent this article from the Wall Street Journal my way and thought I’d share it. I agree with many of the points on there…

Last week I spoke at the Entrepreneurs Ecosystem – I was asked to reflect on “what it takes to start a business in Nigeria”. It was actually the first time I allowed myself to pause and pen down my lessons learned on the journey so far…one of the points I made was the first point in this article – Don’t go it alone! If you can get the team early do so.

There is an African proverb that says “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. I love that proverb and it is so true. Finding the right team and going forward together is very fulfilling. About this time last year, one my co-founders (who was not yet a business partner at the time) gave me a card that said “Shoot for the Stars! If you don’t reach there, at least you’ll get to the Moon!” I feel very blessed by the team around me!

On another note, I am looking forward to blogging and getting to know the Paga Community over the coming years as we roll out Paga. Tomorrow we demo to about 30 people at one of our partner banks – most of them have been working with us for months and its their first time to see Paga working live! Very exciting!!
