Now that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has licensed mobile money operators the anticipation is on for services to launch next year.
According to the EFInA Access to Financial Services in Nigeria 2010 Survey, 23% of Nigerians are already comfortable with using their mobile phone to receive money, send money, or pay bills. These findings clearly demonstrate the potential for services like Paga to bring financial services to the broader public.
On the back of a highly successful and on-going pilot kicked off in Lagos this past September, our team has made refinements and are well positioned for a nationwide launch early 2011. The team is growing (we’ve more than doubled in the last month) and everyone is working hard and excited about opening up to the broader public.
2011 is the year of Paga!
