PAGA Shortlisted For Financial Times ArcelorMittal “Boldness in Business” Awards 2013.

We’re passionate about what we do at Paga and it’s a great feeling when that passion is recognized. So we’re extremely honored to have been shortlisted in the “Technology” category at the Financial Times ArcelorMittal “Boldness in Business” Awards 2013.

The Financial Times is one of the worlds leading business newspapers based in the United Kingdom and ArcelorMittal is the worlds largest steel company.

The FT-ArcelorMittal “Boldness in Business” Awards committee is recognizing Paga for “…Leading the push…” towards harnessing and continually developing technology to “…deliver outstanding economic and social impact”.

Since starting operations in November 2011; we have, using our in-house developed technology platform, focused on fulfilling our mission towards transforming lives by delivering innovative and universal access to financial services.

In our first full year of operating as a CBN licensed mobile payments company, our user base has grown from 40,363 to 382,063 users – 847% growth in one year! We now have over 300 businesses registered to use the platform to collect payments and over 1,600 agents in 23 cities nationwide. In 2012, we processed over 918,000 transactions worth over N9.8 billion…and the numbers are still growing.

It’s a tough category with many other amazing companies in contention but we’re excited to be one of the chosen few.

We’d just like to thank all our users, investors and of course the Paga team; we couldn’t do any of this without your support.

The winners of the 2013 FT ArcelorMittal Boldness in Business Awards will be announced on 20th March, at a ceremony in London hosted by Lionel Barber, editor, Financial Times, and Lakshmi Mittal, chairman and chief executive officer, ArcelorMittal, Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, will be the guest speaker.
